Being new to aligner sometimes takes a bit of adjusting to. To help you learn how to care for your Invisalign® aligner properly, Dr. Robert Montoya with Montoya Orthodontics in Keller, Texas, is happy to provide advice, so you can keep your aligner and smile in tip-top shape.

The most central thing to remember while you transitioning your smile with Invisalign is to brush and floss your teeth regularly. Simply because if plaque, bacteria, or other food particles are stuck on your teeth, your Invisalign aligner is snapped over it, forcing it to stay there until you brush it away. This could increase your risk with cavities and risk of gum disease developing in your smile. The good news is if you are constantly keeping your teeth clean and fresh as often as possible, then, in turn, this can increase your positive oral health by protecting your teeth and keeping them clean and healthy.

When you brush your teeth, never forget your aligner. It’s always a good idea to rinse it out and gently clean it thoroughly. If you love drinking tea’s, coffee, or any other dark drinks, remember to take out your aligner, or use a straw, so your aligner will not darken or stain. Keeping your aligner clean, can help keep your teeth clean through the process.
